To our Heroes, Fallen 44

Being a soldier is a tough and dangerous job.

No one can ever explain how it was difficult to stay away from their families and go to the most dangerous area on the country where you are clueless if you can go back home or not.

It is not an easy profession. It requires a servant heart and a dedicated spirit. It takes passion for your work and a compassion for other people.

The SAF 44, who ended their lives on an encounter at Mamasapano, Maguindanao with the MILF and BIFF in search for an international terrorist Marwan, will never be forgotten.

To our fallen heroes, we will always salute and honor your bravery. We can never payback what you have done on our country just to attain peace.

And to the leader who is behind this operation – still unknown as of this moment, I condemned your action! A leader has its essential role to lead the troops. This operation was made into secret to prevent the MILF from getting any hint regarding their plan. They did not even inform the AFP regarding their operation.

I just hope that leaders who do not pursue their personal agenda will rise up! We need strong and effective leaders who don’t mind if his name will be recognized or not.

A leader is not after the distinction or praises of other people, his always after serving his fellow countrymen.

But when are we going to have this kind of leader?
When another soldiers will sacrifice their lives?
When another operation will fail its mission?
Or when we have a mature leader on the government who would not answer safe but admit his shotcomings?

I still wonder when are we going to have this kind of leader?

The fallen 44 should have not been killed if not for a leader who allowed the operation without considering the worst and coordinating with the AFP.

May this event serve as a lesson for each of us.

I demand the government to take an immediate action regarding this.

Let’s not be apathetic about this. They deserve Justice!
